My voice and piano studio is located in South Austin and I am currently accepting students of all ages and abilities. While creating a fun and nurturing learning environment, each weekly lesson is focused on the following goals:
Voice Lessons (Age 7-11):
- Promoting a healthy and natural singing technique.
- Performing age appropriate repertoire such as children's Broadway solos, Disney songs, and simple folk songs.
- Developing music literary through music theory method books and sight-singing exercises.
- Encouraging students to sing with clear diction, storytelling through song, and singing with freedom in front of an audience.
Voice Lessons (Age 12 and Older):
- Promoting a healthy and natural singing technique.
- Exploring a wide variety of vocal literature including art songs, arias, folk songs, musical theater, and jazz.
- Developing warm up routines, practice techniques, and an understanding of music theory.
- Establishing excellent diction in the four major foreign languages and gaining an understanding of the International Phonetic Alphabet.
- Encouraging students to sing expressively and confidently.
Piano Lessons (Age 5 and Older):
- Promoting proper sitting posture, hand position, fingering, and pedaling techniques.
- Improving technical abilities through scales, arpeggios, octaves, and chords.
- Performing a wide variety of music tailored toward individual music preferences and abilities.
- Developing skills in music theory, sight-reading, and ear-training.
- Encouraging students to perform expressively with attention to dynamics and articulation.
Many students choose to take a voice and piano combination lesson.
